Secondary Students Use Their God-Given Gift of Creativity

September 28, 2017

We know that our God is the author of all creativity, and by forming us in His image, He has passed on a love of creativity to all His children. The fine arts are an integral part of our makeup as human beings. Providing students the opportunity to experience and be well trained in these disciplines is vital to their overall development.

Psalm 139:14: “I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.”

In 6th grade art, students have been exploring God’s infinite use of color in our world, and ways to paint and mix color using Georges Seurat method of pointillism painting in acrylics. Students are mixing right onto the canvas using dots and dashes of red, yellow, blue and white to get the colors they need for their bird paintings.

Based on the concept that we were formed in His image, secondary art students are in the process of using themselves as well as other objects and stuffed animals to create figure cast sculptures from plastic tape.
